This blog is based on a class of "World news B" in Osaka Shoin Women’s University .

Today’s lesson

1. Watch the Powerpoint presentation. Write a summary of the key points (in Japanese or English) on your blog.

When we write blogs, we have to write them which everyone can easily understand and many people can be enjoyable. For example, to put photos which we took ourselves and interesting links on our blogs.

2. What is the purpose, objective, of a newspaper company?

It is to report news to the readers whether news is the truth or not.

It is to show television programs that everybody will be interested in.

4. What is the purpose, objective of Yahoo! or Google?

It is that people search the information on the Internet and they make use of the information in daily life.

5. The purpose of all the above is to make money. That is the purpose of all these businesses. How do they make money? By getting as many readers or viewers (”eyeballs”) as possible. If their purpose is to get as many readers or viewers or “eyeballs” as possible, then what kind of news will they publish? Give 2 or 3 examples. What kind of news will they not publish? Give 2 or 3 examples.

All these businesses will publish news which they sell new products. For example,
snacks and cosmetics. Also, they will publish news about health and works because many readers, viewers include them have been interested in health and works. They will not publish news which criticizes many readers, viewers and all these businesses insult their jobs.

6. Find a news article in English that interests you, and write about it on your blog. Write a summary of the article, then your thoughts about it, and any interesting English words or expressions or grammar you learned from reading this.

I found an article . The article was written about pollen . National Pollen and Aerobiology Research Unit made the pollen index. The pollen forecasts is based on information which the National Pollen Network, local vegetation, weather patterns in the winter and spring that influence grass growth, and the weather forecasts. The forecasts of pollen are helpful to people who are suffering from hay fever . The most important thing is there are some the risk of airborne allergenic pollens in anther dusts and the dust counts are not the same as annually.
I was interested in the article. The reason is two. First, it has coming the seasons of hay fever soon. Second, whether I am worried about develop of hay fever or not because I don’t have pollen allergy.

Words
・ hay fever 花粉症
・ airborne allergenic pollen 空中に浮遊するアレルギー性の花粉
・ medication 薬物治療
Grammar
・ S can help ~ to do・・. S(主語)は・・することで~を助けることができる。
→ The pollen forecasts can help hay fever sufferers to plan their activities and medication.

7. Read your classmates’ blogs and comment on them on your own blog.

I was very interested in this because I want Barack Obama to be the president of the United States against this blog's opinions. Hillary Clinton is a wife of the former President Clinton and so I think that she has only name recognition.
